Ronald McDonald House is an amazing charity supporting families while their children are hospitalised. Among many other things, they provide meals and accommodation so that families can focus on what matters most – their child. With no direct Government funding, Ronald McDonald House relies on volunteers, community support and fundraising.
A highlight of the Ronald McDonald fundraising calendar this year was the Queenstown Supper Club, a mystery dining experience like no other. The night was a huge success, Ronald McDonald House South Island Events and Partnerships Manager Robyn Medlicott says the organisation was overwhelmed by the generosity of the Queenstown and Lakes community. “This year we raised a record $85,000, and every cent we raised goes directly to providing free accommodation and support to families who must travel to Christchurch or Invercargill for their child’s medical treatment”, says Medlicott. As one of the many venues for the evening, McKenzie & Willis were proud to host guests in our Queenstown showroom.
We partnered with FL Bone and chef Luc Witters to put on a fun and memorable night for our eight guests. The food was exceptional, five courses no less; hors d’oeuvres, escargot, lamb, fish and lemon tart for dessert! Nicky from FL Bone commented, “it was a very successful evening thanks to the funky jungle themed environment McKenzie & Willis provided, the stunning Classic French cuisine our talented chef Luc Witters produced and the never fail Aga cooker the food was cooked in.”
Set to a tropical theme, our guests arrived to the Lion King theme song. Gorgeous Cole & Son wallpaper adorned the walls & table and the whole place was decorated in faux tropical plants. Medlicott adds, “We are incredibly grateful to businesses like McKenzie & Willis along with F.L. Bone and Chef Luc Witters who provided an exceptional dining experience for eight lucky guests. The theming was exceptional and made for an unforgettable night out.” It was a great night with lots of laughs and fun had by all. A big thank you to our chef Luc, neighbour F L Bone, and our wonderful guests! We couldn’t have done it without you.
