Year after year the Fairydown Espresso is our best selling blanket. Perfect for all year round, Fairydown Espresso Blankets are a simple and practical way to add warmth, colour and style to any bedroom. We caught up with our Linen & Homewares Manager, Jill Coleman to find out just what makes this blanket so popular!
Why do you think the Fairydown Espresso Blanket continues to be so popular year after year?
Fairydown Espresso blankets are a linen cupboard essential. They are very versatile as they can be used as a stylish accessory, extra layer of winter warmth or lightweight duvet alternative for a cool summer sleep. Once people discover just how great these blankets are they often get one for every room in the house.
Tell us about the colour palette and the relationship with Resene?
Fairydown’s designers work closely with the team at Resene to choose colours for their fabrics that represent the very latest in bedroom and bedroom décor colour trends. We have found these colours to be very popular and work in easily with most interior bedroom schemes.
The colour palette is reviewed on an annual basis to ensure the colours remain fresh and relevant. We always look forward to a new colour being introduced; any new colour is always a winner and there really is something for everyone!
What makes the Fairydown Espresso Blanket unique?
Attention to detail, ethically sourced feather & down fill, as well as 100% cotton coverings. This makes them very light weight for a blanket which is great for layering.
Can you tell us about the composition and construction?
Espressos are filled with a combination of 50% duck down and 50% small duck feathers encased in a 290 thread count 100% down-proof cotton fabric that is quilted for an even fill and all-over insulation. It is sewn in squares which ensures minimum movement and keeps the warmth factor constant.
What care advice do you have for keeping these blankets in top condition?
We recommend always following the washing instructions and airing regularly (away from harmful UV rays). It is usually not advisable to wash feather and down products but the Espresso blanket’s unique construction means they can be washed in a normal washing machine and then line dried. They wash up beautifully however always take care when using pegs and do not let them stay out in the full sun to avoid fading.
These are a generous size – do they work like a traditional blanket?
Espressos can be used as a traditional blanket or as a stylish throw/bedcover. They are just wonderful to have as an extra blanket and are perfect for taking to the bach or on holiday. You can have them left out over the bed or tuck them in like a blanket.
