We are very excited to introduce our brand new homewares range – Edit by Seneca. Edit by Seneca is a curated collection of beautiful handmade pieces for you to use and share in your home.
We caught up with McKenzie & Willis Linen & Homewares Manager, Jill Coleman who filled us in on the story behind the collection, what makes it so special and everything that went into sourcing the range.
The new “Edit” range is Seneca’s first foray into dining and serveware. Seneca is a brand we all know and love and this new venture sees their commitment to quality and design continue.
The idea of the Edit range was based around the concept of beautiful handmade character pieces of dinnerware that can be used every day and also for that special event. Edit is not mass produced and is personally handcrafted using century old craftsman techniques. This really resonated with me and I know the level of quality will be appreciated by others too. Its arrival is also great timing for those wanting to get their Christmas tables sorted for the festive season ahead.
Included in the Edit range are three different and distinct styles.
Milano
The Milano collection is a lovely crafted entry range. This range can be used every day while still being a beautiful finishing touch for your table. It features clean lines and a minimalist finish in a soft colour palette of winter white.
Tuscany
The Tuscany range has a more traditional feel with its embossed edging and soft grey glaze. It is perfect for that Tuscan home style charm.
Zen
Lastly there is the oriental inspired “Zen” collection. It has been delicately hand moulded and glazed in contrasting neutrals of black and white for on-trend styling.
The three ranges of dinnerware ceramics are all hand finished for individual character and to create a unique look. The ceramics are glazed at a high temperature, making them not only beautiful but really practical too! They are suitable for dishwashers, microwaves and high temperatures which is a must for busy cooks.
The Edit ceramics are certified to meet the highest US and EU standards for quality and environmental management.
Yes, the glasses in the Edit range are all hand blown and 100% lead free. The advantage of this is that it creates a finer glass product with a slim rim for a better flavour and drinking experience.
I know for sure that my favourite Jules Taylor Pinot Gris will taste even better in an Edit wine glass!
Hand blowing means that every glass is unique, with their inherent differences a treasured result from the handcrafted process.
The Edit range of wooden items are 100% Acacia wood, hand stained with a beautiful dark walnut colour. Acacia is a genuine, dense hardwood rich with natural oils. This gives it natural water resistance and means that it can withstand the elements. Acacia is all about sustainability and eco-friendly living – these trees grow in such abundance around the world that they are often considered an invasive species.
The Edit range is packed in all-natural recyclable cardboard with swing tags attached using jute string. The packaging gives it a natural hand-crafted feel and is environmentally friendly, which is an important consideration for us all.
I love the whole range but my favourite would have to be the Zen collection because of its contemporary and quirky shapes. It is defined by its unique character achieved through handcrafted techniques.
With Christmas just around the corner, Edit by Seneca has some wonderful options for styling your table. Items from their range are a great gift idea for someone special too! Come in store and see the range on display or shop online now.
